An individual who spiked treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males who were between nine and ten.
The accused was taken into custody after eight children and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The man engaged in a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his family member had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor explained materials including baby oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his concerns.
She explained the defendant proceeded to engage in the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that point," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior said the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member notified the police once more.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
